The Family Medicine Residency Program at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and Cooper University Hospital is a university residency program, located in the heart of Camden, NJ. We are a new 10-10-10 program at one of South Jersey’s largest health systems and the only level 1 trauma center. We are focused on training Family Physicians who are ready to deliver much-needed comprehensive primary care to the residents of Camden.
About the Program
To train the Family Physicians of the future to deliver comprehensive, compassionate, and cost-effective clinical care, lower health disparities, and become leaders in healthcare and the discipline of Family Medicine through excellence and innovation in medical education and mentorship.
Our Five Pillars
Clinical Practice: Provide high quality, cost-effective care to a diverse patient population with continual self-evaluation, quality improvement, and innovation.
Medical Education: Achieve educational excellence through bedside teaching, didactics, mentoring, and role modeling, using innovative teaching methods to train resident physicians for independent practice and to provide the skills for lifelong, self-directed learning.
Community Engagement: Serve our community through patient education, culturally competent care, advocacy for social justice, and volunteer service with a goal of improving the health of our community and lowering health disparities.
Scholarship and Research: Innovate to advance the practice and delivery of clinical care, improve quality, develop new teaching methods, reduce health disparities and inequality, and promote scientific inquiry through scholarship and research.
Leadership: Role model and foster leadership qualities and experience through committee work, engagement, and advocacy within Cooper University Health Care and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, and at the regional, state, and national levels, to produce physicians who will become the leader.
