Background Information on the Hackathon
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines social determinants of health as "life-enhancing resources, such as food supply, housing, economic and social relationships, transportation, education, and health care, whose distribution across populations effectively determines length and quality of life." According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), 84% of health outcomes are attributable to a combination of factors that fall under social determinants of health.

Scholarship Opportunity
The New Jersey job market is booming for those in the field of healthcare IT. Job growth and high median salaries make these careers particularly desirable. To obtain one of the coveted healthcare IT positions, candidates need their resumes to include the requisite training and experience.
The Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS®) certificate is typically obtained by a candidate looking to break into the industry. For professionals in healthcare or IT, the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS®) certificate is a means to establish expertise in the field.
Scholarships are available for the upcoming Healthcare IT Professional Certification Course starting March 18, 2025. More information is available on the Teams channel and will be shared on email.
The scholarships are funded by the NJ Pathways to Career Opportunities initiative, a partnership of the NJ Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development and the NJ Business and Industry Association, and it’s Center of Workforce Innovation for Patient Care.
