About Me

Anthony Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, is Co-President/CEO of Cooper University Health Care and Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Prior to his current role, Dr. Mazzarelli served as Cooper's Chief Physician Executive where he oversaw the physician practice, as well as quality/patient safety and continuous process improvement efforts for the health system, the same topics for which he teaches within the medical school and residency programs.

Dr. Mazzarelli received his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, his law degree from University of Pennsylvania Law School and his master's in bioethics from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Cooper University Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident in the last year of his training

Dr. Mazzarelli has been named one of the 50 most powerful people in New Jersey health care by NJ Biz as well as ROI-NJ and was awarded the Halo Award for leading a team of health care providers from Cooper into Haiti in the days immediately following the 2010 earthquake. Dr. Mazzarelli has also received numerous commendations for leadership and he speaks regularly on several local and national media outlets. As an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine he is a practicing physician and his research focuses on compassion science. He is the co-author of two bestselling books "Compassionomics: The Revolutionary Scientific Evidence That Caring Makes a Difference" and “Wonder Drug:  7 Scientifically Proven Ways that Serving Others is the Best Medicine for Yourself.”

About Me

Christopher McFadden, MD has served as the Fellowship Program Director since 2009.  Dr. McFadden received his M.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University.  He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Maryland where he stayed for additional year as a Chief Resident.  He completed a Nephrology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and joined Cooper after fellowship.

Dr. McFadden is currently as Associated Professor in the Department of Medicine.  In addition medical education, he currently focuses his work in the areas of Hypertension in Kidney Disease.  He is a past-president of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the American Society of Hypertension.  He also serves as a Vice-Chair for the Cooper University Hospital Institutional Review Board.

When asked to comment about medical education, Dr. McFadden stated “I find it an absolute privilege to be involved in the education of current and future health care providers.”

About Me

Andrew McGarry, MD, is an alumnus of UMDNJ and Cooper University Health Care for medical school clerkships and completed his neurology residency at the University of Rochester. He subsequently completed a fellowship in movement disorders and experimental therapeutics at Rochester. He is board-certified in neurology and belongs to the American Academy of Neurology, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society, Parkinson’s Study Group, Huntington’s Study Group, and Movement Disorder Society. He serves on the HSG Clinical Trial Science and Ethics Review Committee.

Dr. McGarry’s interests include Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, spinocerebellar ataxias, and novel treatments for rare movement disorders. His clinical involvement includes delivery of botulinum toxin, deep brain stimulation management, resident education, and medical treatment of tremor, chorea, dystonia, tics, and myoclonus of varying etiologies. Dr. McGarry has interest in cellular mechanisms of neurodegeneration and the development and implementation of clinical trials in movement disorders. He has published numerous abstracts, papers, and book chapters in movement disorder research. He was voted “Top Doc” in South Jersey Magazine’s 2014 patient poll.
